Life has been….interesting since we postponed our 2020 wedding. Not just for us, but for everyone - everywhere. The pandemic has certainly put things into perspective…allowing us to slow down & appreciate the amazing life that we have created together. TJ and I are blessed to both have our jobs, our health, our friends & family, and now our beautiful, charismatic Trey “money $$” Thomas. We purchased our house shortly before the pandemic, and have since transformed it into the coziest home filled with LOVE! The things that seemed important to us when planning our wedding the first time, are not top priority anymore. After 2 years of distance between many loved ones, we simply want to celebrate our nuptials with all our favorite people, and in the area we grew up. Our wedding day may not be what we had originally planned…but everything happens for a reason, and this is exactly how it was meant to be. And it will be perfect. Because we get to share it with all of you! We can’t wait to HUG you, LAUGH with you, and DANCE under the stars!!
We don't quite recall the exact day we met, but it was freshman year of high school. More than 15 years ago! He was the funny guy. I was a dork. We were both akward. Just trying to be cool. I don't remember when we became best friends. We just did. We made each other laugh. We hung out with the same crowd. We were just best friends for years to come! We didn't start dating until after college, and when we did it was so easy. Now, here we are.
We road tripped to the Great Smokey Mountains outside of Gatlinburg Tennessee. A weekend getaway turned into the beginning of the rest of our lives. On our last morning, we sat in rocking chairs on the porch of our "Little Owl Cabin" drinking coffee and overlooking the mountains. It was so peaceful. We were quiet. Just observing. Soaking in our last moments of the trip. A hummingbird flew right in front of our faces - which always signifies my grandfather's presence. We just looked at each other and smiled. A few more silent minutes later, he says "I want to travel the world with you forever." He pulls the ring out of his pocket, and gets down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. I was speechless. Looking from the ring to his face and back to the ring. then back to his face. He says "Your Grandfather just gave me his approval." We both cried and laughed. We were shaking with nerves and excitement. I could feel his heart beating out of his chest. "So did you say yes?" He asked.... I laughed, "Yes!" And the rest...is history!
