Welcome to our Wedding Website! We are excited to celebrate our special weekend in a beautiful locale with our very favorite people – you! Chileno Bay Resort immediately captured our hearts when we first set foot on it last November, and we can’t wait for you to share all that it has to offer with us. Our wedding is a culmination of nearly 30 years of friendship, then love. We met back in 1997 at Humboldt Bank (later Umpqua Bank) in Eureka when Bob joined as Government Guaranteed Loan Manager and Colleen, as the Marketing Officer, wrote his press release. Raised at opposite ends of the state, we were married to other people and raising our kids, who happened to later play sports against each other and attend the same high school. As part of the same running and biking group of friends, our paths would also cross in our forests, beaches, and roads and at fundraisers and parties. After 20 years in banking, Colleen left Umpqua in 2013 to work for the Humboldt County Office of Education, and Bob left the next year for Coast Central Credit Union as its VP/Chief Credit Officer, the company he had started with as a teller right out of college in 1987. In 2017, Colleen joined the credit union as VP Marketing & Communications (a little birdie told her about the opening!). Needless to say, Coast Central has been a special place for both of us as a rewarding last home for our careers. It was early 2021 that our friendship officially grew into something more and we started dating. Bob had been divorced for about 18 months and during that time, Colleen had been a source of support, knowing the difficulties and sadness that come with divorce, having gone through her own in 2005. Through that support came the extraordinary notion of finding love with your best friend. That followed the merging of longtime friends, families, and an array of exciting trips as we continued to learn more about each other and our romance blossomed. In February 2024, with the help of some friends who kept the secret, Bob proposed near Poipu Beach on Kauai at sunset, not far from the condo we purchased in 2023. Funny nuggets from that magical event…when Bob asked, “Will you marry me?”, Colleen, out of breath with surprise that this was really happening, said, “Of course!” But for Bob, there was only one word he was wanting to hear. So he started repeating the words of his proposal, and Colleen soon realized she needed to actually say, “Yes,” which she happily did. A photographer came seemingly out of nowhere to capture the extraordinary moments in that beautiful place. The other (somewhat) funny event was that, in the course of the proposal, Colleen accidentally stepped on his toe, actually breaking it. He was a trooper for the rest of the hour-long photo shoot, however, suffering silently and only sharing with Colleen and friends later. In July 2024, Colleen put her house on the market and moved into Bob’s home in Trinidad. The two dogs, Bob’s 3-year-old Golden Doodle, Cali, and Colleen’s 8-year-old mixed Terrier, Bailey, made the household complete. Months later, Bob is still trying to find room for all of Colleen’s clothes and memories. A huge thank you to our kids for their support of us and the true joy they bring: Colleen’s kids, Andy (30, Sacramento) and Brianne (25, Ohio) and Bob’s kids, Ashley (30, Portland) and Bryce (28, Chico), and their partners. We look forward to many more years of happy times shared together.
