Ali was project managing event websites at Omnipress, and Bob was the guy she IM'ed when her computer wasn't doing what it was supposed to do. Ali thought Bob was cute, but he was really, really quiet and she has a thing against dating coworkers. No one knows what Bob thought, because you know, he's really, really quiet. Bob also had a dream of making the next big app, and Ali project managed that for about two seconds, but then she quit Omnipress and also quit the app. It seemed like they would never meet again...
Sometimes a lifetime can come down to a difference of two days. Ali was working, going to school, and by all accounts having a wonderful life, except in love. Nothing was going her way in that department. Bob was going to school and brewing lots of beer and nothing was really going his way in love either. They'd both joined eHarmony, but neither of them was really using it. Two weeks before they met, Ali decided she was done with men for a while and deactivated all her online dating accounts except for eHarmony, because she only had two weeks left on her subscription anyway, so whatever. Two days before her account closed, Ali checked her matches one last time, just in case. She was scrolling through and saw someone who was a new match, but a very familiar face. It was Bob! Ali texted her friend Jess, who used to work with both of them at Omnipress, wondering if it would be awkward if she sent him a message. Jess said she should go for it. (Which basically means Jess is responsible for all of this. Thanks, Jess!) Bob replied to Ali's coffee offer within a few hours, and late that week they met for a date where they debated politics and literature, and despite the fact that Ali gave Bob lots of funny looks about his opinions, Bob invited Ali to keep arguing with him at dinner the same night. Ali's still mystified on why that happened. A little over two years later, here we are! And to think it all could have turned out differently if Ali hadn't checked her account for another two days.
