Both of us had pretty much given up on the whole dating thing.. Enter our friends Mike and Kathleen LaVallee. "Anne you need to meet this guy, Bo." "No thanks, I think I am going to just stay single and besides he lives in Virginia." And to Bo. "Bo, you need to meet our friend Anne." "No thanks, she lives too far away and I am not dating anymore." Several months went by, with several similar chats.. I (Anne) went to visit Mike and Kathleen After a few cocktails, the phone was handed to me with Bo on the other line. We talked for a while, he promised to call back and we talked several times each day from then on. After using up all of our airline and hotel milage points to meet with each other, I (very out of character) agreed to move to Virginia, taking the biggest but most rewarding chance of my life! I gave it six months to work out, or I was going to bounce back to Colorado. I think it is safe to say I didn't bounce... and have loved every minute! I have found my once in a lifetime hero. Maybe not on a proverbial white horse, but on a big noisy Harley. And he has found the love of his life. We are truly blessed and grateful.
In October 2020, we took a two week vacation, visiting friends first in Florida and then flew to St. John USVI. We stayed with our good friends, Jim and Cindy Morano and Dale and Carol Oliver at the home of Jason and Hillarie Oliver, a stunning villa overlooking the ocean. We spent each day lying on the silky white beaches, snorkeling and relaxing. Our evenings usually featured a concert with Carol playing her ukulele and us gals all singing fun songs like "I'm Yours, by Jason Mraz (which later became our video theme) It was a much needed break after a very difficult year. On the evening of November 3, we were going out to dinner but before we left, everyone met on the balcony for drinks and to watch the sunset. Suddenly a large noisy drone came flying out of the trees and hovered over our group. I was irritated that someone would invade our privacy and while focusing on the drone, didn't notice the wildly swinging bag underneath. It hovered over us for a few minutes and then came toward the balcony. Bo who was closest to the drone, reached up and cut the bag from the drone, with magically appearing scissors. "You can't do that! It's not your drone, you don't know those people!" was all I could think of. It didn't occur to me to question why Bo had scissors on the balcony... After cutting the bag down, he motioned for me to come closer and when I walked over to him, he pulled out this giant, tacky, and certainly not the one we had chosen several months earlier ring. It had been in the bag under the drone! I am so glad he didn't have the real ring flying over the heavily wooded hillside! He quickly switched it out for the real ring and proceeded to pop the question. I of course said yes! You can watch the fun!
