Labor Day Weekend 2025 - Brett and Brian had both decided the online thing wasn't for them. Brett had just written in her journal she was giving it all to God and was trusting HE would lead her to the person she was to date IF she was supposed to date. Brian had spent many evenings sitting on his back patio not knowing what was next. Both had given a dating app a whirl but they were hating it. Saturday, August 30, Brett logged on and there was Brian's profile. She didn't register his name - only his age, marital status (widowed), and his location. She felt her heart do a little leap. She went to bed praying. Around the same time, Brian decided to delete the app! So, the next day Brett tried to find him and, realizing she didn't know his name, believed she'd never come across his profile again. Meanwhile, Brian was contemplating making a change as he was tired of sitting on his patio feeling blue. He decided to head to church that Sunday in hopes of finding some direction from God. The next day (Labor Day) he thought he'd give the dating app one more shot. Brett got back on as well (to delete it!) and...THERE WAS BRIAN! She gave his profile a little like. Shortly after, Brian messaged her and said simply "Brett is an unusual name for a girl." That's where it all began. About 20 minutes into messaging, we decided to exchange numbers and, by Tuesday, September 2, we were at dinner together for our first date and we could have talked all night long and into the next day. From that day on, we've rarely had a day that hasn't included time with each other. We both know we cannot take any of this for granted. Neither of us could have ever dreamed we'd find this kind of love and happiness again. Neither of us could have ever dreamed we'd find someone walking such a similar path. We are both pleased that there is space in our relationship for the love we each had and still have for Mike and Lucy, respectively. There is space for the memories, the tears that still fall, and the conversations about their lives and our families that will always be remembered and celebrated! We're very excited for our future together and grateful for our opportunity to live a second chapter with joy and happiness! We can't wait to celebrate on our wedding day. God is faithful and good! "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." -Jeremiah 29:11
