Mario and I both applied for Amazon in Eastvale, as it was one of the new buildings at that time. I was initially supposed to be on a night shift and him a day shift, but HR overbooked and asked me to work the dayshift instead. We got onboarded a week apart and were assigned to the same department on the same schedule. We both shared mutual friends at work, and were soon introduced. We then became really good friends and hung out often. A few months later, Mario asked me on a date.
Since it was around Christmas time, we decided to go to the Mission Inn and look at all the Christmas lights! We walked around the area and peaked in the three story antique shop. When we finished walking around, we drove around and ended our date with Buffalo Wild Wings!
Mario had picked a ring for me in January, but had held the ring and waited to propose to me in October since fall is my favorite season and has the cutest aesthetic, in my opinion. Mario had planned to propose to me in Big Bear, as we go up there often and LOVE the area! Not only have we fell in love with the scenery and cold, fresh air, but we've built so many amazing memories up there. He then found an AirBnB to rent with our dear friends Nestor and Diana. Mario presented the trip as one of our little mini friend getaways, so I was completely in shock when he proposed! On October 3, Mario and I started our day off by getting a pomegranate margarita and ceviche at a local restaurant in the village while we waited for Nestor and Diana to come up. Shortly after, we met up with them and walked around the village. The weather was perfect! The sun was out and the air was cold and crisp. We had fun just looking around the shops and going out to eat. They then devised a plan to initiate the proposal. There is a little lake across from the village that still had some water, so they presented the idea of taking "couple pictures" since it had a pretty backdrop. We then walked over and found the perfect spot. They said we could get pictures first and then switch so they can get some as well. We then posed for "pictures," but Nestor was actually filming the proposal. Mario then dropped down on one knee and proposed. Of course I said "yes" in the midst of me being completely speechless and overwhelmed with joy. We are now excited to begin a new journey together for the rest of our lives and are hopeful you can make it to our special day!
