How We Met

April 2nd, 2018

Who would have thought you could actually find love through the internet? We found each other on Tinder, of all places! His profile showed an attractive man who has a strong passion for his music, and hers showed a beautiful and adventurous nerd with dogs (always a plus). We met for our first date after Caleb attended an AA meeting at a local Denny's. Neither of us expected to find a person who we could spend hours sharing sarcasm and funny accents and movie quotes with. Well, okay that's mainly Caleb, but she more than tolerates it! Melissa didn't want the night to end, so we ended up on the shore of Manhattan Beach and shared our first kiss on a lifeguard tower.

The Engagement

March 4th, 2019

Actually, this story begins on New Years Day, 2019. Caleb and Melissa's best friend (and Maid of Honor), Marissa, tactfully joined forces to create the ultimate surprise for Melissa. After 2 months of careful and creative planning, they finally perfected it. Marissa and Melissa had annual passes to Disneyland that year, however Marissa had an upgraded pass, so she sometimes received better offers from the amusement park. She called Melissa one day and said she had received a letter from Disneyland inviting her to participate in a scavenger hunt and when completed will receive a $20 gift card to a merchandise store within the park. The goal of the scavenger hunt was to solve riddles that would lead you to a known area of the amusement park and you were supposed to take a picture of yourself in that area. We went ALL over the park and it was tons of fun! But, Marissa seemed distracted. Little did Melissa know, Marissa was texting Caleb our locations to ensure we didn't cross paths. Melissa thought Marissa just wasn't having that great of a time. Our next point in the scavenger hunt was to take a picture at the exit of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. So, we go on the ride, but the exit area was too crowded so we stepped all the way outside (for those of you who are unfamiliar, that would take you to the entrance of the Blue Bayou restaurant). Except..for this picture, Marissa didn't want to be in it for some reason. She said "No, it's okay, you stand there and I'll get a picture of just you." Melissa thought this was super strange, but whatever. Marissa stood there for 30 seconds or so just pointing the phone at Melissa's face, when she said "okay, turn around", and there walked in Caleb. He talked about how our lives have beautifully grown together, and asked for Melissa to marry him.
