How We Met

May 4, 2015

Michelle and Shane met in May of 2015. Their first interaction was over Plentyoffish.com when Shane sent Michelle a simple "Hey, how are you?". Michelle and Shane spoke for a while via social media and when it finally came to their first date mother nature decided to rain on the parade. Shane picked Michelle up despite the poor weather and made a hilarious first impression by opening the car door for Michelle to find that his good ol' Pontiac was actually leaking rainwater through the ceiling ( he had a cup to catch the water)- "Sorry my roof leaks..haha." he retorted. That night they talked endlessly over delicious Chinese food where Shane found out further that Michelle was so nervous she tried to "mistake" a peanut for a water chestnut (he still doesn't believe her to this day). Despite the water chestnut mishap, Michelle and Shane had a night full of laughs and endless chat about their lovely feline family members at home. From that point on Michelle knew that their was something special about Shane- it was only 6 months later Shane decided to make it official- they would try this crazy thing called life together!

The Proposal

The pond

May 4th, 2018 was the day Shane decided it was time to make Michelle his forever. Shane found a wide and narrow flat stone and painted Michelle's name on one side and "Will you marry me on the other". He had to keep the stone around for awhile because he wasn't sure how exactly he wanted to go about planning the proposal-this was no easy task! "I had a cabin booked for a vacation that Michelle already knew about, and thought about popping the question there. With so many unknown variables and not wanting to spoil it I decided to play it safe and ask before we left for vacation. I took time before work on May 4th 2018 (our anniversary) to stop by the local pond and the idea came to me after walking about for a few minutes figuring out where and how. I gathered a number of fine looking pine cones and placed them in to the shape of a heart, placing the stone in the middle. Hours later after returning home for the day, I convinced Michelle to go for a walk to the pond with me since it was such a fine evening out. Something we often did to wind down for the evening. With the ring in my pocket we made our way there. I steered her, unknowingly, to the right spot and at first she was very suspicious and confused seeing a heart of pine cones with a slate colored stone bearing her name. I told her that it must be for her and she should pick up the rock. she bends, carefully reaching for it and plucks the stone from the heart. Flipping it over to reveal the question every girl wants to hear: "Will you marry me?" I asked as she reads it and begins to weep tears of joy. She opened here eyes again to see I had taken a knee and was wielding the most magnificent piece of jewelry she had ever seen. YES! she proclaimed between sobs. I pulled the ring from its box and placed it on her finger as we embraced each other. We happily walked home forever closer together than before." And THAT'S the start of our Forever.
