Tavia and Brandon met in the summer of 2013 during a mutual guy and girls friend trip to Kings Dominion Amusement Park. Ask any of Brandon and Tavia’s friends who were there that day and they will try to take credit for the couple connecting. However, if you ask Brandon, it was all his doing for getting the two together after asking for her number. Tavia of course tells a different story and says all the credit goes to her when she strategically saved a seat beside her on a roller coaster ride just for him. Despite how it “really” happened, the two hit it off at Kings Dominion and exchanged numbers. Brandon and Tavia spent the rest of the summer getting to know each other long distance while Brandon was at the University of Virginia preparing for his track season before the semester officially started. Facetime and text conversations eventually led to numerous weekend trips between George Mason University and the University of Virginia to spend time with each other – going to football games, attending campus parties and trying out new restaurants. Tavia and Brandon made it official after their first Valentine’s Day together in 2014 and have been inseparable ever since!

Brandon started planning to propose to Tavia in the beginning of 2020 after almost 7 years’ worth of memories, worldwide travel, and experiencing life together. He knew he initially needed to ask for her father’s blessing before he carried things out and the perfect opportunity came on a short trip to Atlanta with Tavia’s dad where unbeknownst to Tavia, Brandon was able to seal the deal. Shortly after that trip, Brandon got to planning! With the help of Tavia’s best friend, Brandon was able to pick out the perfect ring for the occasion. After a few ideal proposal dates were pushed back due to the COVID pandemic, the right day aligned for the proposal to happen. Brandon popped the question during a picnic in June 2020 at the Old Town Alexandria waterfront in Northern Virginia. The event was photographed by a mutual friend who was hidden near by to capture everything behind the scene. Following the engagement, Tavia and Brandon celebrated with their group of close friends who were watching everything unfold and over Facetime with family and other friends who couldn't make the proposal in person!

The wedding will take place September 12, 2021 in Chantilly, VA where Tavia and Brandon will be joined with family and friends to celebrate their next journey together as one.
