How We Met

PART 1: We met through my sister. I must have been around the age of 9 or 10 (making him around 12 or 13). My sister, Doug and a few other friends were in front of our house messing with my brothers' plastic pellet gun while I was playing nearby. Out of nowhere Doug shoots me in the back of the head with it. (ummm.. OUCH!!!) If you ask Doug, he will tell you I ran in front of where he was aiming on purpose which is not the case at all I believe I was chasing a butterfly. If you ask Margaret, she will tell you that it was cupid and that was our love shot. After being shot by Doug I do not believe I saw him again until years later... PART 2: We met again through my sister. She was house sitting over at my dad's while he was away, and she threw a small house party with her friends. I thought (still do) that he was the best-looking man I had ever laid my eyes on, and I remember thinking at that party that “I am a 17-year-old high schooler, there is no way that Doug a 20-year-old would ever go for me.” Part of me was right he would not go for a 17-year-old it was not until I was 18-year-old that he really showed romantic interest in me.

How it went

Doug & I started dating the Summer of 2013 and broke up in early 2014. In that time, we shared so many memories together. We laughed until we cried, loved, learned so much, grew, and eventually grew apart. In the dictionary under right person, wrong time you will find a picture of us. In the following years we were still in each other lives. We cared deeply about one another and wished each other well. Now I will give credit where credit is due, my soon to be Brother-in-law called it first back in April of 2019. Alex asked when I was going to give Doug and I another chance because he could still see that we loved each other after I did not answer he said that it was all right because he knew I would be his sister one day. Three months later I traveled all the way to Hawaii with Brian and Margaret to visit Doug. Margaret and I had MANY heart to hearts while we were there, and she truly opened my eyes to what I was denying to myself for years that I was in love with Doug. I have loved him since I was 18, he is and will forever be the love of my life. And on July 30th, 2019, we gave our love story another chance.

After All This Time?

ALWAYS

November 24th, 2019, at what I believed to be a birthday celebration for my sister Doug got down on one knee at Myakka River State Park and asked me to be his wife with our loved ones there to share in the happiness and love.
