Blaze and I met at the Hatfield Wawa. I had been an associate there for a few years already and Blaze had transferred January of 2020 as a new manager to the location. We had met and developed a friendship over the course of the year. With nursing school quickly approaching, I had decided to leave Wawa in the summer to focus on school and with that, Blaze and I’s relationship developed. 😊
August 4th 2020 will always hold a special place in my heart. Blaze had asked me out on a brunch date to the “Karlton Cafe.” Little did we know a tropical storm would hit us (tropical storm Isaias). On arrival, Blaze was so sweet and tried to be a gentleman by holding an umbrella for me as it was pouring but the wind overtook any prior plans he had in mind. The breakfast was great and the company was even better. Getting to know each other came easily and before we knew it breakfast had been eaten and the check had been delivered. Neither of us wanted to leave so we both came up with ways to prolong the date. Blaze decided Target was a good idea since it was open during Covid and he needed a new phone charger anyway. Once that mission was complete we decided to go to “Pets Plus” to pet some furry friends. Again, after a short lived intermission we were stumped as to how to spend more time together since Covid was rampant and almost everything was shut down. The only options were to meet each other’s family (too early for that lol) or just chat in the car. So we did! For 5 hours until Blaze had to go to work. I hit Blaze with the heavy questions during those 5 hours and so did he. We weren’t messing around lol. Going over our past, present and things we wanted for our future we quickly realized how similar we were in our values and desires. Little did we know this was the beginning to our love story <3
A day after Blaze and I’s first date, I took my Nana out to the turning point for our regular breakfast and chat. As many of you know, my Nana and Poppop held and still hold a special place in my heart. On this breakfast I told her about Blaze and gushed about how similar we are and how our values align. I was ecstatic. After hearing how happy I was, my Nana said “I’d like to meet this guy!” A month later on September 7th 2020, Blaze and I had asked my Nana and Poppop out to breakfast. We chose the Karlton cafe <3. There was a lot of learning this day. Blaze had found out how direct and loud my grandparents were (lol). My Nana had found out that Blaze loves salmon (her fav) and my Poppop discovered Blaze and him had a common love, sorry, admiration for golf. I had gotten the stamp of approval from my grandparents that day. They were overjoyed by his respect, his genuineness, and how much of a gentleman he is. I knew these characteristics of Blaze and to hear that my grandparents witnessed it as well was amazing. I’m so blessed he was able to meet them <3
