Question

I'm in the wonderful state of New Jersey, what do I do ahead of the wedding?

Answer

You probably know you're actually in New York, but Blase wanted to get his joke in and still doesn't understand the tri-state area. Check back on our "Local Activities" tab for some of our recommendations. *Blase here: I’ve come around to the beautiful garden state. Here’s my recommendation for your day in Jersey/New York. Wake up, remind yourself you’re not in hell. Grab yourself a BEC, or better yet, a taylor ham, egg, and cheese on a roll. Take a beautiful stroll down the Hudson River. Note the beauty of the fall foliage, and take a few pics – word is BeReal is big these days. After that, grab a slice of pizza as a carb base ahead of the night’s festivities. Maybe stop by the local deli and get some fresh gabagool. Drink and dance at the wedding. And finally, let your friends and family know you survived your time in NJ / NY.

Question

What's the dress code and why is this part of a wedding always a headache?

Answer

These dress codes have gotten completely out of control. Western Chic? Black Tie "Optional"? What does "optional" even mean in that instance? Have a backbone and choose something. I'll make it simple. Our wedding dress code is formal. Let me give you clear instructions on what that means: - Guys: Wear a suit with a tie, no need to pull out that tux. Take the tie off during the dancing part of the wedding. - Ladies: Break out your favorite below the knee, tea or floor length dress. Look good, feel good, dance good. It's that simple.

Question

So what's the transportation situation?

Answer

Buses will be provided to the reception from the hotel. Beer will be provided on said buses. No one likes the transportation between ceremony and reception, but nothing a beer can't fix.

Question

I'm flying in for the wedding. Do I need to rent a car?

Answer

While a car will certainly give you more flexibility, it shouldn't be needed as long as you are okay with ubering. It's <1hr drive (+/- given traffic) from Newark to the Hotel. The Church is down the road from the Hotel (5 min drive, 15 min walk) and transportation to and from the reception will be provided from the Hotel. *Blase here again (realize this shtick is getting old), but I have a duty to my friends and family. The answer to the above question depends. Do you value your life? And that's a serious question. Driving in New Jersey is a sport. It's outright dangerous. It's like an F1 race out there, except these are everyday people going about their day-to-day life acting like they're the next Dale Earnhardt. The turnpikes are disasters, drivers are cutting you off, the merges might as well be jumping into the abyss and hoping you land on some champagne powder. Amanda once laughed at me for going a very respectable +5mph over the speed limit. In Jersey, if you aren't going +10, might as well pack it up, go home, and review the tape. Good luck everyone and be safe. Can't wait to celebrate!

Question

What about my beautiful kids - Are they invited?

Answer

You love your kids. We love your kids. But we would ask that you leave the kiddos at home. You deserve a night to celebrate and we greatly appreciate it.

Question

I'm tired of weddings, I can't listen to another rendition of uptown funk. Help!

Answer

We hear ya. We've got quite the music situation ready to go. All we'll say is come ready to dance. And if you have any issues during the reception, feel free to direct all music complaints to Blase.
