Our Send-Off Party will start at 5:30pm inside Schanil Hall, on Gooseberry Beach. This will be a celebration with close friends and family who are unable to join us for our ceremony in Italy in September. There will be cocktails, passed hor’dourves, and dancing :)
August in Newport is a very fun (but busy!) time—if you are planning on booking accommodations, we encourage you to do so sooner rather than later, or also consider looking in the towns of Middletown, Portsmouth, Narragansett, or North Kingstown besides! They are all within 20 minutes of Gooseberry Beach— but may offer more affordable options than staying directly in Newport. If you need to fly in to Rhode Island the closest airport is TF Green Airport win Providence and the other option would be to fly into Logan International Airport in Boston.
Second Beach: Middletown's public beach with paid parking and our personal favorite beach—they also have the BEST lobster rolls for a nice lunch! Cliff Walk: 3.5 mile walk along the Newport coast - crashing waves on one side and stunning, century-old, Gilded Age mansions on the other. This is a must see spot (but make sure to wear your sneakers as parts of the walk can be rocky)! Sachuest Point: Our favorite walk and view! Newport Car Museum: The private collection includes 95+ automobiles from the 1950s to the present. Ocean Drive: 10 miles of historic landmarks and stunning coastal views from the comfort of your air conditioned car! Play a Round of Golf: Jamestown Golf Course or Green Valley Country Club. Newport Mansion Tour: The Preservation Society of Newport County has preserved 11 historic house museums, representing nearly 300 years of American history. Ryan Family Amusements: A classic arcade and a great family-friendly attraction.
Some popular places around town include: Perro Salado, One Pelham East (Pelham), Newport Blues Cafe, Smugglers Waterfront Bar, 22 Bowens, Clarke Cooke House, and The Landing.
