2.6mi pedestrian and bike trail extending from Bayou St. John to Louis Armstrong Park (right next to the French Quarter). Rent a bike and explore the trail. One of our favorite past times is filling a backpack with beer and biking to the Quarter for some day drinking and people watching!
Nearly 200-year old urban oasis with ancient Oaks, walking paths, ponds, boat rentals, and more. The park also holds the Louisiana Children’s Museum, NOLA Botanical Garden, NOMA, sculpture gardens, and wildflower fields. You can even get your beignet fix at Cafe Du Monde! City Park is a must-see if you get a free afternoon in the city. Consider taking the streetcar for the full experience!
This compact riverfront park runs along the Mississippi River, connecting the French Quarter to the eclectic Bywater neighborhood. Get a great cityscape view from the “rusty rainbow”! One of the coolest features is its proximity to Bywater gems, like Euclid Records, Studio Be, The Joint BBQ, Pizza Delicious, and Elizabeth’s restaurant. Grab a to-go drink and do some sightseeing in a less traveled part of town!
We hate to add a restaurant with an airport location, but the gator dog and loaded fries are guaranteed to cure any hangover (even Blake’s, which speaks volumes.) Locations on Freret, Magazine, and Frenchmen Streets (and the airport, sigh.)
Monday and Thursday nights at the MIL Lounge are for Kermit Ruffins and the BBQ Swingers! $20 will get you a big bowl of red beans and a seat just a few feet away from the best jazz your ears will ever feast on. Bring cash, tip well, and dance!
