Life is funny

Here's to the long, crazy ride together…and to forever having Super-White-Guy dance moves.

Blake's Version: I was rock climbing in West Virginia and making yet another attempt at a very difficult climb. In hopes of being victorious, I packed a lunch to enjoy at the top. When I peered my head over the edge, a very metallic looking hand reached out to me to help pull me up. The sun shined so brightly against his armor I could barely see anything. "You've got a great smile." he said. "You are so shiny." I replied. He took off his metal gloves and I gave him half of my sandwich. We sat in silence and gazed out over the mountain top. "Would you like to do this again sometime?" he asked. "Absolutely." I gleamed. Later, as he watched me repel down the mountainside he yelled "I love you." "You're alright.” I yelled back. We were engaged a year and a half later. Mason’s Version: Blake's writing is a reflection of her off-the-cuff manner; she may have you believing that we actually met while rescuing mountain goats or some other nonsense. The simple (and somewhat boring) truth is we met through a dating app. When I first met Blake, she simultaneously helped me relax and intimidated the hell out of me. She can be a contradiction like that. She arrived to our first date (“casually late” of course) and when she noticed me sitting in the entryway (nervous and double checking my jeans for stray dog hair) she immediately popped a smile and raised her arms halfway in a gesture that said “well, this is what you’re in for!” If you want specifics on the date, feel free to ask...Blake. She claims she's got the "real" version of events. Or better yet, ask us together so that you can hear the bickering over each other's perspective of that day. The important thing is that on my way home from our date, I called her to lock down a second date. Nearly two years of dating later and I’m still trying to wrap my head around what I got myself into.
