In early March, Blake, Julia, and Steph (Julia’s friend) had decided to take a road trip up to Colorado for Spring Break. Julia and Steph planned to drive up to Estes Park for a few days while Blake had to work, but Denver ended up getting hit with a snowstorm that stranded everyone inside for a few days playing games, baking, and building snowmen. On the last day of the trip, Blake took Julia on a morning hike before (or so Julia thought) driving back to Texas. Due to the snow, Blake decided they should go snowshoeing up at Monarch Lake where they had paddle-boarded together the summer before. They hiked out to a frozen, snow-covered lake, where there wasn’t another person in sight. After playing in the snow and taking some silly pictures, Blake surprised Julia by getting down on one knee in the snow and asking her to marry him. His proposal was followed by lots of tears and a “yes please!” The surprises continued as he flew in both sets of parents and some other friends and family to celebrate with the couple in Grand Lake. The weekend was spent with many of their favorite people in a beautiful cabin in the mountains. Julia was so surprised, and left in awe at how incredibly intentionally Blake had planned the weekend. It was also a special time for the people they loved to get to see their love for each other and celebrate the joy of their future together!
