Oh what whirlwind it was! I was relaxing in a favorite spot of mine at the park with my good friend Joe. We had our fishing poles with us but were sitting in a spot where there has never been any fish. All of the sudden this pretty little dog runs up to me and lets me love on her. I look up to find out who she belonged to and my breath was taken away by what I saw. A beautiful woman smiling was walking towards me. I collected myself adjusted my hat and we chatted a bit and I got to watch her walk away. I decided to start going to my no fish fishing spot at the same time the next day hoping to see her, fishing pole in hand and not a fish in sight, and she was there every day. One day, 2 months later, at our usual time and place (still no fish) she saw paint on my hands and asked me what I did and I told her about my artwork and showed her on Facebook. She left and promised to add me on Facebook that night. I felt like a teenager waiting on a note from my crush. To my dismay Janine didn't add me as a friend. I was sorely disappointed and didn't go fishing for the next few days. I decided to try one last time and went to our usual spot. I was sitting there waiting for what seemed like forever when I saw a little orange dot on the horizon and I knew it was her little dog (and my new friend) Butterscotch. Janine walked up to me arms spread wide and a huge smile on her face. She gave me a huge hug and explained how she couldn't find me on Facebook. She asked me "your name is Luke Colecroft right?" I told her my real name and we had a good laugh. The next few days we met at the park and chatted a bit every time she passed me by (she says it took me two months to get the nerve to ask her for her number, all lies!). We talked about how hot is was, when she told me her AC wasn't working right. I told her that I could fix it and went over the next day. Ever since that day we have been inseperable. A family.
I was shocked when Blake proposed to me at our family photos! Everyone knew! Especially the boys. He had gone to each kid and asked for their permission beforehand (aww)) so they were super excited! He gave Jadon a special cue so that he would start recording. I was oblivious until I turned around and saw Blake on one knee with a nervous happy smile. I gasped when I realized he chose his grandmother's ring! It took my breath away to see so much love in his eyes, squealed, and I said, "YES!" It was all a beautiful blur. I would like to note that the very next day we all came down with a horrendous viral sickness that lasted a week. We did, "what we always do" and figured it out. He took care of me and I took care of him as we battled raging fevers, body shakes, and a cough that wracked my body. We did all of that as we nursed 3 sick kids back to health as well. He is my best friend and I am his. How, unbelievably, lucky we are!
