Emma and I became members of an organization at Texas A&M, called Muster Committee. I still vividly remember Emma introducing herself to everyone. We had been asked to share one of our favorite quotes along with our names and she introduced herself with, “Hi, my name is Emma Gibney and my dad always said, ‘We are here to love and serve others.’” Immediately, I developed a HUGE crush on her. She was so beautiful and seemed so sweet. For the next few months, we would speak briefly as I would try to flirt with her before going back to the dorms to tell my roommate, “about this girl from Muster Committee”. I finally got the courage to ask her out on our first date on December 3, 2017. and the rest, as they say, is history! -Blake
I knew that both Emma’s Papa and Dad had each proposed in the same way in Scotland; in front of a statue of Our Blessed Mother Mary. With Emma still in College Station, I had an opportunity to surprise her. Enlisting the help of her Uncle Frank who works for St. Mary’s in College Station, I devised a plan to ensure Emma would be at St. Mary’s on Thursday, April 2 at 11:00 am. I took the day off work and drove down that morning. When she walked into the courtyard at St. Mary’s, I was standing there in front of the statue of Mary. She was shocked! I got down on one knee, she said yes, and I got that ring on before she had a chance to change her mind! It was such a beautiful intimate moment together in a place that means so much to us, and I wouldn’t have it any other way! -Blake
