The wedding couple met their junior year at Virginia Tech during the first day of Harry Potter class. Because the class had to change rooms, Blake arrived unexpectedly late and had to move seats to sit with her fellow Hufflepuffs. Blake sat closer to Zach, who thought she was the most beautiful girl in the room. Zach pursued Blake with small, innocently romantic gestures — walking her to and from class (sometimes being late to his others to do so), kind teasing, grabbing lunches, and solidifying the foundation of their future relationship with friendship for a year.
