There’s some back story to this story that’s pretty crazy- so hang in there with me. Back at the NFR 2018, a friend and I were waiting for the Cody Johnson to start at the buckle ceremony. We were having some small talk convos with a group of guys standing next to us while we all waited. We ended up getting along with these guys pretty well and joined their group pretty much for the weekend. Well the best man Dylan was apart of this group. Dylan lives in New Mexico and as far as I knew at the time- we had zero connections. We all added each other on social media after the end of the trip and went about our lives. Fast forward to fall of 2019. I (Jaycee) was scrolling on Facebook and Blake’s profile popped up on my “people you may know” section. So shamelessly- I stalked his Facebook and Instagram and gave him a follow. I couldn’t believe there was a calf roper who only lived an hour away from me, in a town that I was in all the time for barrel races. Blake was gone hunting with zero service during this time. So I didn’t get a follow back or anything. I just assumed he wasn’t interested and went on with my life. 3-4 days later Blake gets back into service and sees my friend request. We have a decent amount of mutual friends- but his best friend Dylan who he college rodeoed with down in Vegas was one of our mutual friends. He found that to be super random- like how in the world would I know Dylan. He messaged Dylan to ask about me, and Dylan gave Blake the green light. Blake messaged me on Instagram, we talked for a few days online, had our first date, and the rest is history. Later on down the road- Blake had mentioned that had Dylan not given him the green light- he may had never even responded because it was not something he’d normally do. I never knew meeting this random person in Vegas before a concert would play such a huge factor in Blake & I’s story ❤️
