Only 2000 Characters to Describe How We Met....

by Zack Chandler

I met Blair back in May '15. We were both working at SCM, and still are. I recall seeing her the first time. She was GORGEOUS. I didn't meet her until Dan Johnson introduced us a few weeks later. She was standing at the top of a ladder filming a marketing video. "Hey Zack, have you met my good friend, Blair?" "Hi, um, no I haven't; hey, Blair. I'm Zack." ...You idiot, that's all you can say to that pretty girl? Hopefully I'll get the chance to meet her again?... In July '15 she was volun-told to support us technicians at the Las Vegas show! I can vividly remember the first time I was told to go with Blair to run some errands. Being the new guy I couldn't say no. And why would I? I get to sit in the car and chat with this beautiful lady! Now we're in a car on the way to get ice, and I had NOTHING to say. Anything that might come out of my mouth may be just one run-on word. Two days later she invited me along as a third wheel to Fremont Street with some other guy. What? Are you serious? Of course! We exchanged numbers at the end of the quick conversation and I agreed to go. No, I couldn't wait to go. But I couldn't let her know that. Shortly after Las Vegas, we went to see a band near the office one weeknight. We also shared a few more dates before we went to see LSU at Alabama. That is when I asked Blair to officially be my girlfriend (11/5/15?). If you ask her how I won her over she will tell you I played hard to get. Clearly her impression of who I was is far from the truth. I wanted to be the one she wanted. Apparently that was a well kept secret on my part. I felt so strongly that she was it. But I needed to take things one step at a time. The more I was able to get to know her the more beautiful I thought she was. Her elegant soul radiated from her. Finally after a few years of dating, I asked her to be my wife in the middle of a vineyard on 9/8/18. I haven't made a better choice in my life than to ask this beautiful spirit to be a part of my life forever.

The Proposal - Blair

September 8, 2018

Zack planned an all day date for us in the north Georgia mountains. "Romantic hike through rolling hills and vineyards where you learn about wine and taste each grape and try special cheeses. Followed by lunch on the terrace overlooking the vineyards." Sign me up! I couldn't wait! We arrived at the vineyard and were anxious to start the day. It was beautiful. Handsome guy, cool crisp air, sun shining brightly. So off we went. We quickly realize this is no romantic hike. We are walking through the woods, waiving sticks around so we don't hit spider webs, stepping over wet logs and making sure that we stayed out of mud. As it turns out, the "rolling hills" was a singular concrete hill and our guide couldn't tell the grapes apart. By the end, my hair was slicked back and makeup sweated off, but by golly we made it! We had the best laugh. Zack made dinner reservations at the same winery. I noticed he seemed a little on edge; even after the "Romantic" hike that morning. We arrived at dinner and our table wasn't ready. No problem! We will walk around the vineyards at sunset and wait... Not quite. There was a wedding in process, so we were not allowed on the grounds. Cue nervous Zack. His jaw clenched and he got quiet. He must have "gone to the restroom" or said "I'll be right back" at least four times; which is obviously unusual. I thought well, could have been the mystery grapes... He came back the 4th time and grabbed my hand to take me outside. We broke the rules. We walked on the grounds. We didn't get too far before he stopped to spin me around to face him. I still think he is upset about the reservation. He then looks at me and just says, "You know I love you, right?" and then I blacked out. Kidding, but it happened so fast that neither of us can remember the exact words he used, but I will never forget him looking up at me and asking me to marry him, with so much love. I will also never forget telling him NO because he tried to put the ring on my right hand.
