How We Met

Mom, I owe you one forever.

So, if you don't know, Chad works in construction. In the fall of 2018 he was supervising the build of my parent's new office space. One day after a walk through of the build, my mom handed Chad a business card with my name and phone number on the back. Later she called and told me what she had done, and I about died. Some time went by, and I hadn't heard from him, so I assumed he chunked the card and moved on. About 2 weeks later I got a text saying, "hello, this is Chad, your mom gave me your number, this is my awkward introduction." We texted back and forth for a bit, but we were not too invested nor interested. About 6 weeks went by of us some-what communicating, and he asked me on a date. We didn't disclose much over text about our personal lives because there was a lot going on in both of our lives at the time, and we both weren't really looking to date anyone. We were broken, a little lost, and definitely not looking to drag someone else into our time of loneliness. When time came for our date, we started out at Chuys. All good things start with beer and creamy jalepeno, am I right? We had a few beers and dished out all of our baggage. It was not pretty. We talked about run ins with the law, previous failed relationships, emotional traumas, personal struggles, mental health issues...we pretty much covered all of the "RED FLAG, WALK AWAY" topics, but after all of that there we were, still enjoying each other's company. After our super deep and way to honest dinner we went to watch the Dallas Stars play. If you don't know, Chad is a hockey/stars FANATIC. I expected him to ignore me all night, but surprisingly, we talked the entire game. We laughed, we celebrated, we relaxed, and for the first time in a very long time we both were truly enjoying ourselves and our company. It was the best (last) first date ever. That night I called my mom and told her I loved him...He told me the very next day. Now here we are, becoming husband and wife! Thanks momma!
