WEDDING CELEBRATION / PARTY: OCTOBER 30, 2021 We are back on track, folks! After getting married on October 31, 2020 in a small ceremony in St. Louis with our immediate families, we are looking forward to seeing all of our family and friends and celebrating our first year of wedded bliss with our loved ones. Ben and Blair have differing accounts of their first attempt at a meeting (Blair's version is correct), but both agree that their love is entirely owed to the matchmaking abilities of one Mike Gustafson (Gus), a former beloved Sidley colleague of Blair's and current friend of Ben and Blair. Blair recalls a conversation with Gus one day, where he first raised the discussion of a potential date with a friend of his named Ben. He described Ben as a very outgoing former rugby player with a distinctively loud and at times scary sounding voice, with a big personality and even bigger heart. Naturally, Blair (and her friends) engaged in a thorough investigation of Ben's LinkedIn profile and social media (her friends are lawyers), and upon its conclusion she said she would be interested in going out with Ben. Unfortunately, Ben was informed that Blair was not interested in a date with him, and they did not meet until a year later in March 2017 when the topic of Ben happened to come up again between Blair and Gus. Blair and Ben met at Cindy's Rooftop at the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel (Ben describes Blair as "marching" up to him at Cindy's), housed some burrata and old fashioneds, and off they went.
