How We Met

Blair reached out to a friend, Carly, to set one of her friends up with a guy who just moved to town. In talking to Carly, she said she knew a really great guy who’s mom was the Tri-Delt house mom while she was at Tech. Carly had been praying about setting her up with Cody and sure enough Blair had reached out to set her friend up. Carly asked if Blair was okay with her getting in touch with him to see if he was interested. Cody said yes and he texted Blair a couple days later. Their first date was for lunch over Mexican food at Dos Compadres. Later in the week they went for margaritas at Rosas...{back story: family Blair works for has 3 little boys and their mom was shooting a destination wedding in Italy and their dad, a Doctor was on call.} So lunch was the only option for the time being and a late night drink at Rosas. Sunday, they went to church followed by brunch together and the more they talked, the more they realized they'd finally met the person that was the answer to their prayers. They made it official and it’s been the sweetest reminder of the Lord’s faithfulness and answer to prayer that His timing is always just right!

How He Asked

We flew out to Dallas on Thursday, June 18th to celebrate Cody’s birthday that was Tuesday. We were excited to take a little getaway to step outside of our busy schedules and routines! He told me that his sister-in-law told him about a really great place to eat and that he’d made reservations for an early dinner. Cody emphasized that we could not be late and he’d come back to my room later to make sure I was on time. He went to his room while I ironed the dress I was going to wear. As I was finishing getting ready, he came back down and was pacing my room. I asked him if he was okay and he said, ‘yeah we just cannot be late. we’re going to be on time for these reservations.’ I was completely oblivious. So we went downstairs to catch an Uber to go to our reservation and couldn’t find the Uber. The bellman was really nice and we’d made friends with him since we’d arrived. Cody pulled him off to the side and next thing I know, we’re hopping in the house car and on our way. We pull up to this really pretty area, Arlington Hall at Turtle Creek and we both get out. Cody guides me toward the beautiful gazebo and as soon as we get to it, he gets down and asks me to marry him!!!! Of course, YES YES YES!! After putting the ring on my finger, he grabbed his Bible behind one of the poles and read me three scriptures. As he finished reading, Heather, my sweet boss who also happens to be a photographer pops out from the bushes screaming and jumping with so much excitement!! Cody had her hiding to catch all of this in pics!! We Ubered back to our hotel, called our families, close friends and then headed out to Javier’s Mexican Restaurant for dinner! After dinner we went to my best friend and college roommate, Kate’s apartment and celebrated with her, her fiancé, Chris, and my other roommate, Amy! We popped the champagne and had cake as we started the #CountdownToCowling!!
