We got married!

During my time at BYU, I spent a lot of time with my friend Jarom, so I got to know some of the people he knew. One night, he invited me to hang out with some girls he knew at their apartment. We opened the door, and I locked eyes with the most luminously beautiful eyes I have ever seen. Shelby Smith, just sitting on the couch, playing her ukulele. The group of us had fun hanging out that night, and I came back to hang out a lot more after that. Two years, and a lot more dates later, we got married!

We were visiting Blaine's family in Mississippi for Christmas and New Years when Blaine popped the question. He took me on a romantic walk around the creek on the Grover family farm. When we returned from our walk in the woods, there was a white sheet layed out on the ground by the creek covered in flower petals with candles around it. In the middle of the sheet was a little box. Blaine got down on one knee and popped the question. I said "yes!" and we were then treated to our own private fireworks show. We didn't know until afterwards that Blaine's brother and cousin (Asa and Levi) almost shot themselves with the fireworks in the process, but it made for a really entertaining show!

Neither of us had ever planned on eloping, but with everything closing down from COVID-19, we decided we better get married before things shut-down further. After a lot of deliberation regarding the coolest way to elope, we decided to contact Shelby's uncle and see if he would be willing to take us up in his plane. We got the formalities sorted and were in the air within a week. Uncle Jeff took us up with the bishop for a romantic flight over BYU and around the mountains. When we came out of the canyon, the plane was over the Payson Temple where we then said our "I Do's." Though nothing we had ever planned, it was everything we could have dreamed of. Now that things are opening up, we look forward to getting sealed before God inside the temple and celebrating with all of you!
