Travel Note
Flying in: You can fly in to Denver (DEN), or Hayden-Steamboat (HDN). Denver to Steamboat is a 3.5 hour drive, and Hayden is 35 minutes. Getting around: If you aren't planning on renting a car, note that Uber/Lyft is extremely unreliable unless you are inside Steamboat - you can sometimes get an Uber from the airport to town, but sometimes you will be let down. There are shuttle services from Hayden airport to Steamboat which include Storm Mountain Express and Ski Town Transportation. Also look at Yampa Valley Transportation. Staying here: Once in Steamboat, the free Steamboat Springs Transit bus runs between major hotels, downtown, and the mountain area. For hotels near the Botanic Gardens, we recommend Residence Inn by Marriot Steamboat Springs, Legacy Vacation Resorts Steamboat Springs Hilltop, and the local favorite Rabbit Ears Motel named after Rabbit Ears Pass. Home rentals are plentiful as well through Airbnb, VRBO, and local property management companies.
Travel Note
Fun places to see and things to do: - Hot Springs: Strawberry Hot Springs, Old Town Hot Springs - Hiking: Howelsen Hill, Steamboat Ski Mountain (even outside of ski season, you can hike on the mountain for free, or pay for a gondola ride when it is open during the day), River Walk - Bars & Entertainment: Schmiggity's Live Music - Dining: For casual spots, we love Taco Cabo and Yampa River Ice House for river-side spots, O'Neil's Tavern and Back Door Grill for great food; for fancier meals, check out Aurum (Blaine's fav birthday dinner spot), Table 79 (best river views), and Mambo Italiano (where we celebrate our first date anniversary)
