We had already been "talking" for a few weeks so we were really already dating. But while we were at Blaine's house watching T.V. on his old, green couch, he nudges me and says, "I was wondering if you would want to be my girlfriend?" If you know me, you know I'm sarcastic and love to joke around. So, I looked at him dead in the eyes and said "Uh, no." His face went blank and just looked at me like, really? I started laughing and said, "Just kidding, yes!" This basically set the tone for the rest of our relationship.
On our 6-year anniversary, Blaine had planned to recreate a past date that we went on to a flower farm and to the Cheesecake Factory - it was one of our favorites. The whole way down to the farm, I kept bugging Blaine about when he was going to propose, and he kept saying that he was going to have to wait a while. Once getting to the flower farm, we got our clippers and a bucket and went about picking the ones I, I mean we, wanted... As I was clipping a flower from the garden, I turned around to ask Blaine his opinion on it and dropped everything. My handsome guy was on one knee asking me to spend the rest of my life with him, and well, you guys are here reading this so I think we know what I said!
Well... As everyone knows, Covid-19 had other plans for us. In mid-April, we made the heartbreaking decision of rescheduling our May wedding. Although it was sad at first, I wouldn't change a thing about it now. A couple days after rescheduling and letting everyone know our plans for October, our wonderful photographer, Cara Boyer (book with her), let us know about a venue called 'The Freedom Barn' in Indianapolis. This venue was offering couples who had to reschedule their day 1.5 hour elopement ceremonies. We called the venue, booked our date and ordered new wedding attire (I'm extra, ok). When May 15th arrived, our wonderful families brought over breakfast, drinks and gifts to help celebrate our still special day. After getting ready, we went to our photographer's studio to take some pictures that would still give us the more elegant look I wanted. We had our first look and our first dance with each other before heading off to our new venue. Once getting to the venue, we were presently surprised with how it turned out - because having never been there, I had no idea what we would be walking into. The barn was perfect. There were lights strung up the beams and a beautifully decorated arch at the end of the aisle. My dad still got to walk me down the aisle to the love of my life while our most important people stood by us. Our dear friend, Tyler Beeson, conducted a beautiful ceremony that each of our siblings got to partake in, as well. We said our 'I do's', kissed and then celebrated at home with some delicious Qdoba in our tshirts and sweats. It was the perfect day.
