This is Blaine's favorite line of Bourbon. They release allocated bottles every day. We've taken many trips to Frankfort to get bottles that are difficult to find anywhere else (unless you want to pay a 200% mark up that is). The gift shop opens at 9am. We recommend getting there by 8am, hopping in line, and meeting fellow bourbon lovers! They offer free tours and even welcome visitors to explore the grounds independently after their visit to the gift shop. If you are unable to book a tour online, don't fret! Often times there are tour slots available if you just ask! Warning! You are only allowed to purchase one bottle per persons over the age of 21. Once you purchase your new favorite bourbon, you'll be "in jail" for that particular bottle, meaning you cannot purchase that same kind from their gift shop for 90 days.
Two words: Beaver. Nuggets. If you're coming up from I-75, make sure to stop by the Buc-ee's - especially if you haven't been to one before. Blaine and Carmen love stopping at Buc-ee's for a quick snack on their way to and from visits to Kentucky. Pro tip: You can use any sized "washable" cup to Buc-ee's and fill up at the drink fountain for $0.69. Carmen's Favorite: Diet Dr. Pepper. Blaine's Favorite: Diet Coke
Blaine's thing is bourbon. Carmen...not so much. Chenault Vineyards provides a taste of Richmond, KY. They provide daily tastings, including a rotating seasonal selection, and host a variety of events including live music, art classes, and comedy events. Carmen recommends trying Black Diamond that's made with blackberries grown on the estate! Not a fan of wine? Don't worry, they also have a food menu!
Want to use our wedding as an excuse for a little vacation? Well come on! Kentucky is the land of blue grass, fast horses, and good bourbon. The bourbon trail has a little something for everyone. Visit a few distilleries while you're in town or take the week to see them all! You can easily schedule a tour online or visit them on your own. If you're interested in a tour of one of the many distilleries KY offers either independently or through a guide, be sure to book early because openings book up fast! Blaine recommends Woodford Reserve, Buffalo Trace, and Wild Turkey.
