Things To Do

French Quarter

New Orleans, LA

a.k.a. the Vieux Carré The oldest neighborhood in the city - and one of the most storied in the U.S. - the Vieux Carré ("Old Square") is a blend of Spanish, French, Creole, and Caribbean influences. Beyond the nightlife, it’s rich with deep history, charming architecture, and a little spookiness in the air (you know, Blaine's favorite part!). Stroll down Royal Street for galleries, antiques, and street musicians, or explore Jackson Square and the striking St. Louis Cathedral. Grab iconic beignets at Café du Monde, and swing by the French Market for local bites and artisan souvenirs. Whether you're into haunted tours, historic landmarks, or just a really good muffuletta, the French Quarter has a little magic for everyone. Think classic New Orleans - no beads required.

Magazine Street

Magazine Street, New Orleans, LA

A local favorite, Magazine Street winds through Uptown and the Garden District with six miles of charm, color, and creativity. It’s lined with cozy cafés, funky boutiques, vintage shops, galleries, and some of the city’s best eats - all tucked into historic buildings under shady oak trees. It’s perfect for daytime exploring: grab a coffee, window shop, sip something sparkly, and maybe treat yourself to a little lagniappe (that’s New Orleans-speak for a “little something extra”). No crowds, no pressure - just good vibes, good food, and local flavor around every corner.

New Orleans Museum of Art

1 Collins Diboll Circle, New Orleans, LA 70124

The New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) is a beautiful escape just outside of downtown, nestled in the heart of sprawling City Park. It features a thoughtful collection of fine art spanning centuries and continents, from European masters to contemporary works. Right next door, the Besthoff Sculpture Garden is a must-see - free and open daily, with winding footpaths through live oaks, Spanish moss, and over 90 modern sculptures tucked throughout. It’s peaceful, photogenic, and a lovely contrast to the buzz of the city.

Audubon Aquarium

1 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA 70130

The Audubon Aquarium is a stunning riverside attraction featuring immersive exhibits, touch tanks, and even a walk-through tunnel where sea life swims overhead. Now merged with the Insectarium, it’s a surprisingly fun and peaceful experience. Located along the Riverwalk, it’s also close to shops, casual dining, and scenic views of the Mississippi.

Preservation Hall

726 Saint Peter, New Orleans, LA 70116

If live music is on your must-do list (and it should be!), Preservation Hall is the place. Tucked just off Bourbon Street, this intimate, candlelit venue has been the heart of traditional New Orleans jazz since 1961. The room is simple - no bar, no A/C, just wooden benches and a whole lot of soul. Nightly shows feature some of the best jazz musicians in the city, continuing a legacy that’s seen legends like Louis Armstrong and Kermit Ruffins grace its stage. Walk-ups are welcome but shows do sell out - booking ahead is recommended. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience that captures the rhythm, heart, and history of New Orleans.
