Our mutual friend, Brittany, made several attempts to set us up to meet. We finally met after the third attempt at a work holiday party she hosted. Chris was dressed in Christmas pajamas and put to work as a festive bartender. Ashley walked in trying to steal his puppy, Dolly. The two sang karaoke all night and he finished the night by asking her to brunch the next day to meet his mom and sister. She said no. The following Monday, Brittany made sure our contact information was shared with each other and conversations continued for three weeks until Chris finally asked Ashley on their first date. During that first date, Chris mentioned he was leaving town for five months forcing Ashley to question why he even bothered to ask her on a date in the first place if their time together had an expiration date. Because of their instant chemistry and interest in each other, they entertained a casual long-distance relationship that surprisingly worked out for them. The relationship progressed naturally and here they are getting married!
We enjoy sports, lots of sports as long as it's not a house-divided situation. We also enjoy fishing together, playing with our dogs and Costco runs.
He challenges me to get out of my comfort zones. The amount of respect he has for me and overall love is something I never have to guess. He makes me feel safe, loved and beautiful everyday, even when I'm moody and ugly.
It feels like home wherever we are together. She loves animals, especially our three puppies. For such a tiny human, she has a big heart and a personality. She loves in a way that only she knows how. She really does make me a better man.
