It is! Cliff Island is one of many islands located off of the Portland mainland. All of the islands are accessible by taking a ferry or water taxi.
You have two main transportation options when traveling to Cliff Island. 1) We have arranged tickets for all guests to take the 3 PM EST Casco Bay Lines public ferry. Casco Bay offers ferry rides throughout the day to and from Cliff Island. The trip is appx. 1-hour and is BYOB, so please make sure to bring a beverage or two for the ride. The ferry leaves on time, so please make sure you arrive at the ferry terminal 30-45 minutes prior to departure. Once you arrive at the terminal, look for a person holding a "Blackburn/Diewold Wedding" sign. They will have your ferry ticket. You will need this ticket in order to board the ferry. You can find the full ferry schedule to cliff island here: hhttps://cdn.cascobaylines.com/uploads/2021-Fall-Schedule-Casco-Bay-Lines.-8.20.21.pdf 2) Take a water taxi. Water taxis can be ordered like regular taxis. They seat 6 and can be reserved for transportation at any time. If you know you'd like to take a water taxi, please schedule in advance.
The ferry ride will be covered by the bride and groom for all guests who take the ferry. If guests decide to take their own water taxi to the island they will be responsible for that cost. If you reserve a water taxi (max occupancy 6 people), the rate is $85 from 6:30 am - 10:30 pm, $105 from 10:30 pm - 12:00 am, and $140 from 12:00 am - 5:30 am. Additional rate information can be found at: Casco Bay Lines: https://www.cascobaylines.com/portland-ferry-rates/passenger/ Foggs Water Taxi https://foggswatertaxi.com/rates/ Portland Sea Taxi http://portlandseataxi.com/
The reception will end at 10:00 pm. The last public ferry leaving Cliff Island is at 10:25 pm.. We will lead everyone from the reception area to the ferry landing where everyone will ride this ferry back to Portland. If you would like to leave the island before the 10:25 pm ferry, there are two options. 1) Take the 6:45 pm ferry. Casco Bay offers ferry rides throughout the day to and from Cliff Island. You can find their ferry schedule here: https://www.cascobaylines.com/schedules/cliff-island-schedule/fall/ 2) Take a water taxi. Water taxis can be ordered like regular taxis. They seat 6 and can be reserved for transportation at any time. You can view Foggs Water Taxi here: https://foggswatertaxi.com/rates/
The best option for leaving the island before the scheduled departure time will be to reserve a water taxi to take you home. We have contacted the water taxi companies to let them know about our wedding and they should be staffed appropriately. You can reach out to the following company to reserve any transportation needs you might need in advance: https://foggswatertaxi.com/
While we love to watch the children run and play, this is an adults-only kind of day. You are more than welcome to have them with you throughout the weekend, but please coordinate your own childcare.
