Johnny and Miranda didn’t “officially” meet until 2021, but their lives had been intertwining in ways they didn't realize for years before that. In 2013, Johnny attended Miranda’s church youth group with his baseball team. Years later, he recalled meeting her dad, the youth pastor at the time, and the exact song Miranda had sung during the service that night. Still, they didn’t meet. But Johnny remembered the girl that sang “Our God” by Chris Tomlin, the epitome of worship songs of the time, and the pastor was constantly cracking jokes. In 2014, they both began attending Bristol Eastern High school as freshmen. They had plenty of mutual friends, but never hung out or even had any classes together. They lived (and still do) only five minutes from each other and never knew. Miranda remembered Johnny from high school fondly – how could you forget the football star and prom king? In late 2020, Johnny began to plot how to talk to this “pretty girl from high school” he followed on Instagram, but didn’t know personally. In early 2021, he added her on Snapchat, without much of an idea of how to truly begin a real conversation. Thankfully, he didn’t have to try hard, because Miranda saw that notification, immediately told her sister that the “cute boy from high school” had added her on Snapchat, and sent him the first message. Within a day, numbers were exchanged. Within two, the first date was planned. After a couple of weeks of casual dates, it was official. It may have taken about ten years of missed connections, but now here we are! Awaiting our big day together and knowing that God’s timing is always perfect. Next stop: Our Disney Honeymoon!
