Good food and wine really does bring people together. This was especially true for us. Growing up in Healdsburg, Kat was introduced to cooking at a young age by both her grandmothers. Eventually, this led her to working for Williamson Wines as a lead for their culinary and cheese program. At this time, Brian was just beginning his career with wine down in the Sonoma Valley. Our good friend and wedding officiant, Tyler, let Brian know of an opening at Williamson Wines in their tasting room. This is where we met in 2013. There was an instant connection and our journey enjoying the world through food, wine, and adventures continues to grow.
Once we began dating, our lives together continued to change and grow. In 2015, with plenty of encouragement from Kat, Brian accepted a job with DaVero Farms & Winery, where he still works today. The next big step, was to move into our own home, dubbed the B-K Lounge, in Healdsburg in 2016. Soon, our clan began to grow with the addition of the two cats, Peps and Lou in 2017, and then our dog Stanley in 2018.
We have always taken the time to explore the beautiful state of California. One of our favorite spots being Fort Bragg on the rugged coast of Mendocino County. Having been there in 2017 for Kat's birthday, we planned a second trip with Stanley for January 2019. Unknown to Kat, Brian had a bigger plan for the trip. With Kat's late grandmother's engagement ring in his pocket, we headed north for our trip. Once in Fort Bragg, on a rainy, windy day, we stopped at the famous glass beach for a stroll. While exploring the beach and laughing at Stanley run from the waves, there was the perfect moment to propose. Brian knelt down in the sand by the water and asked Kat to be his wife. Kat didn't expect it at all. Looking very surprised, and between excited smiles, she said yes!
