It all started back in high school when he was the cute basketball player from Kennett and I was the flirty cheerleader from South Pem. After a ball game one night, I got up the nerve to add and message him on Facebook. I would love to tell you that sparks flew instantly, but...that would most definitely be a lie. We were both pretty awkward and most conversations consisted of "Hey(:" "Wats up" "Nm u?"... Obviously it was pretty difficult to keep up a conversation like that and so we lost touch for a while. A year later, we started talking again (in August if you ask my side of the story, November if you ask his..a story for another time) and this time things we're a bit more interesting. After a few months (or weeks, depending on who you ask) we had both started falling for each other. So, on Christmas Eve 2012, we were riding around in BJ's truck, playing 20 question (like we did pretty much every time we were together) and it was my turn for a question. I asked "When are you going to officially ask me out?" and he replied with "It's my turn for a question: Will you be my girl friend?" Pretty original, right? But hey, it was pretty sweet at the time!
In the weeks leading up to the proposal, I had no clue what BJ had planned. We were going on vacation with his family to the beach, and little did I know that was when he had made up his mind to do it. A week or so before we were leaving, I was moving from one apartment to another and my parents had come to help. As we were packing and moving, BJ randomly says he has to leave and go meet his parents for something. I was aggravated because we still had so much to do and he was just abandoning ship. Little did I know, he was going to finish paying off the ring that he was going to put on my finger a few days later! Skip to the day we leave for the trip: Everything is going great, we're just trucking along, about half way to Gulf Shores, when out of nowhere BJ's sister, Mackenzie, starts screaming. After we all recover from the minor heart attacks we just had, we found out that her dog, Luna, had gone missing back home in Blytheville. BJ's dad was ready to turn home, but everyone insisted that we travel on since we were already so far (also knowing what everyone but me knew) and we assured Mackenzie that she would be home soon. Well that wasn't the case.... That little heifer was gone for two whole days!!! To say that everyone was down would be an understatement. But finally, early that Monday morning we got word that she was back and all was right in the world! So yes, Luna girl almost ruined our proposal, but yes we forgave her (eventually). That night, finally ready to have a good time, we all got ready to go take family pictures down by the beach before dinner. We took turns getting several different group shots and then I wanted one of just me and BJ. After we took our pictures I went to look at them on Mackenzie’s phone (because of course I had to approve) and before I could realize what was happening, he was down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said "Of course!!!!" quickly followed by "It's about time!"
