Alli's sister, Amanda, and Matt worked together at MD Anderson. Amanda kept talking about her new pharmacist friend at work every time Alli and her got together. Come to find out she was trying to talk him up to Alli in anticipation of setting them up. One day she overheard another coworker trying to set him up with someone else and swooped in to call dibs on Alli's behalf. She gave Matt her sister's number and shortly after Alli got a text from Matt introducing himself. After a couple of messages back and forth he asked her to grab drinks. They met at Buffalo Brewing Co. on Memorial Day and spent the next 4 hours getting to know each other with the Houston skyline in background. After that the rest is history!

On a much anticipated trip to Charleston, Matt kept asking Alli what day she had planned for them to take a day trip to the romantic cypress gardens where the movie the Notebook was filmed. Alli had spent months talking about it and showing Matt pictures and videos. After confirming it was on the third day of the trip, Matt didn’t know if he could wait that long. Once they arrived in town and checked into the hotel they both got freshened up for roof-top drinks before dinner reservations. After seeing the Charleston skyline in the background and scoping out a secluded spot Matt knew this was the spot! After a few drinks and with just enough time before they had to leave for dinner, Matt pulled Alli over to the other side of the roof top. Thinking he just wanted to get better view of the Ravanel Bridge in the distance, Alli didn’t think anything of it. Matt always makes sure Alli knows how much he loves her, so when he began his speech she still has no idea what was about to happen. It wasn’t until he had to remove her arms from around his neck so he could get down on one knee that it clicked. Through happy tears she couldn’t stop nodding “yes”! They both spent the rest of the night not being able to wipe the smile off their faces!
