If you know Anna, you may call her adventurous. From following career dreams to NC, Texas and back, little did she know she was destined for Washington, DC. After a big decision to take a new job in the capital, she packed up a newly renovated house and hit the road. Also, if you know Anna, you know her life long obsession with her Jack Russell, Mia, who ruled her life. As Mia aged, Anna's joke was "You better not leave me until I meet my Husband!" 2 weeks into new DC life, Mia's final day came. After days of incessant crying, Anna decided to distract herself and see her new, frigid city. She Uber'd to Union Market and walked around looking for something to cook for dinner. After landing a seat at a bagel stand in the market, she ordered a mezcal cocktail and minded to herself. Enter Dan. Dan was enjoying his Saturday morning ritual of a reading the news with a bagel & Bloody at his favorite Union Market stand, nearby his H Street home. Dan is a phenomenal cook, so he often explored the meat counters at Union Market for weekend deals and dinner inspiration. He's also very observant and doesn't forget a face. He noticed a girl he'd never seen before at his bagel spot, and curiously waited for the patron seated between them to pay his tab, before leaning in to ask about the floral note of her mezcal cocktail. "You cook?" she said, realizing his question sounded like a judge of Top Chef. She also quickly noticed his kind blue eyes and patient, warm demeanor. They talked for hours. Anna couldn't believe his knowledge of history & current events, and decided she didn't hate his sports teams! After two months of Dan playing tour guide in his home of a decade, showing Anna his favorite art museums & Old Fashioneds -- they haven't looked back. And the best part? Although timing fell two weeks short of her meticulous Virgo plan... Anna knows he's Mia approved ;)
