How we met

Sometime in 2016, we both were invited to help build a tiny house at a common friend's house in San Mateo, CA. We both met briefly and hung out for a bit while we had some lunch. We barely talked that day but had a great time building the tiny house. Time passed and we both had our separate lives in which we both dated other people and had frustratingly decided to stay single! We tried dating apps but after a while gave up on them. Dani's last experience on dating apps made her think becoming a nun would be more enjoyable so she decided to turn off the apps. In June 2018, we both attended our good friend's wedding in Portland, OR. At the wedding reception, Dani saw Ian from afar and was attracted to the shiny bald man at the end of the bar; not often do you see a head so large and polished that it had its own gravitational pull. Though the distortion in gravity caused by the massive head of this interesting brick of a human, she thought he looked familiar and approached to talk to him. After talking for a bit, they both connected and Ian scored her digits and soon after they split for the night, since he had to take care of some family members that were also at the wedding. After returning to the hotel, Dani received a text from Ian just to say hi and let her know that they should meet up when back in the Bay. Almost a week since the wedding, and not hearing back from Ian, Dani decided to say, screw it I'm texting! (obviously this is a victory for bald men everywhere). Ian texted Dani back and the conversations continued for days. Coincidently they both had their cousins visiting from out of town and decided to meet after they left, so they went for a walk at Washington Park in Burlingame. A few days later, they decided to go on their first date and had an amazing time. Almost a month after dating, Ian asked Dani if she wanted to be his girlfriend and she happily said yes. And the rest is history...

Our elopement

After living together for a while, we knew that we were meant to be and loved each other even more. During COVID and shelter in place, we started some conversations about marriage and our future together. After discussing it for a few months, we decided we didn't want to wait much longer but didn't want to have an online ceremony or wedding (Because San Mateo's online DMV of bullshit was not giving warm and fuzzies). We already had plans to go to Tahoe for the weekend and thought it couldn't be a more perfect weekend to elope. On Sep 11, 2020, we made the decision to elope and get married in Tahoe. We made a whole weekend out of our civil wedding and had a great time. Had our ceremony, just us and the officiant in the woods in South Lake Tahoe and then drove to Emerald Bay to take our first pictures as a married couple. We had our celebratory dinner at a restaurant in Kings Beach, CA, went on a Lunch Cruise to Emerald Bay on the infamous Tahoe Gal and had an amazing time with each other. Covid may have made us change plans but we will have our wedding ceremony in a Catholic Church in April 2021 and a small reception with our closest family/friends. P.S. If you are going bald and single, have a barber professionally shave your head, you may find your future wife That Day.
