Birdy and Brandon first met at Parris Island in Beaufort. From the very beginning, they instantly clicked and quickly became friends, often chatting in passing despite working in completely different areas of the island on opposite schedules. It wasn’t until they eventually started working in the same department that their friendship truly took off. Before long, they were spending 10-hour shifts together and then immediately making plans to hang out afterward. A few months later, their friendship turned into something more — even though technically, it was considered a “work violation.” Quite the scandal, indeed. Brandon insisted they keep their relationship a secret, which turned out to be surprisingly easy since they had already spent the last six months as best friends. As it turns out, nobody really cared anyway. Upon getting out of the NAVY, Brandon decided to stay in South Carolina with Birdy, and Birdy decided to let him. The two have spent as much time traveling as possible since, while always looking forward to coming home to their families — and, of course, cuddles with their cat, Heidi. Then, in March 2026, the two took a ski trip to Park City, Utah, where Brandon very gracefully managed to wipe out on the second day. Convinced he had broken his tailbone (a diagnosis that remains unconfirmed to this day), he spent the evening hobbling around while Birdy questioned every decision that had led them there. Despite his injury—and much to Birdy’s surprise—Brandon insisted they still complete their planned hike the following day. After plenty of reluctance, concern, and pushback from Birdy, they set off up the mountain anyway. At the top of the mountain, Brandon got down on his knee and proposed. Birdy immediately felt like the luckiest girl in the world... and then like a complete jerk for all the pushback she had been giving this guy. And the rest is history.
