We met in 2004 while in high school. We became and stayed close friends until I graduated in 2007. We both went their own ways for college, but stayed in touch over the years through random messages here and there. One day, something clicked and we couldn't stop talking to one another. I lived in Omaha, he in St. Joe. We decided to get lunch and catch up after years of not seeing each other; and the rest is history. We started dating that summer and now we're here, four years later (or 14 years, later depending on how you look at it) getting married. We couldn't be more excited!
We've made our own tradition: before the holidays we take a weekend getaway to take some time for ourselves before the chaos starts. Last year, 2017, we rented a cottage on a quarry in Rolla for the weekend. Saturday morning, I woke up to a foggy morning, perfect for coffee and watching the sun rise over the water. He offered to go in and make breakfast for us. In what took entirely too long, he told me to come in and eat breakfast. On the couch, was a new Kate Spade clutch that I'd been eyeing for a long time. Little did I know that inside the clutch was the ring. He held my hands and asked if I'd marry him. Of course I said yes :)
