Devin and I met in the fall of 2019, using Tinder to talk about things that interested us. Him being a Carolina Hurricanes fan, and seeing my love for Star Wars and Disney, we began comparing our likes. Soon after, Devin asked me out on our first date by meeting me for dinner in Downtown Raleigh. We met after work and walked Glenwood South to eat/drink at the Raleigh Beer Garden. We talked and talked, and talked some more. Deciding not to leave each other so soon, we made it over to a laid-back cigar bar where I learned about Devin’s love for cigars. From the moment we met each other, nothing else mattered and we knew we wanted to be with one another.
When Devin and I first started dating, we both decided that we were unsure of marriage and in no rush to tie the knot. After spending months in quarantine together, we really grew fond of this life we've built together and he said.."Dani, you're the only person that I'd love to spend my time stuck inside a house 24/7 with. If this is how it's going to be when we get older, I'd be honored to have you as my wife." I agreed. Devin always said that before we even discuss marriage, that I had to meet his Grandparents in Texas. Well, there while working one day, Devin comes over to say, "next week we're going to Texas. You're meeting my Grandparents. They are thrilled to have us, they are prepped and ready!" He planned for a weekend road-trip and that following Monday, a day at the Dallas Arboretum with his lovely grandparents, Judy and Jim Watkins. The Dallas Arboretum was filled with pumpkins, gorges, and squash for their annual Autumn Pumpkin Patch, and I mean FILLED. We walked around and Devin found this one spot that he really wanted to take a photo of us in. People were everywhere and all waiting for this "photo-opportunity"...when it was our turn, Devin got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!
