The free Gas Works Park is in the quirky neighborhood of Fremont, just north of Seattle's downtown. This 19-acre park is at the former site of a coal gasification plant, and has been transformed to a beautiful lawned area with walking paths, picnic tables and a playground.
Check out the troll hiding under a bridge in the heart of Fremont. This landmark is close to downtown Fremont, where one can have a refreshing beer at Fremont Brewing, window shop at many stores, enjoy some chocolate at Theo Chocolate, and look at the statue of Lennin.
With nearly 12 miles of walking trails, Discovery Park is the largest park in the city. It’s a great place to feel like you’ve escaped the traffic and buildings without leaving the city limits. Discovery Park is a great place for birdwatching and spotting harbor seals and sea lions, but one of the biggest draws is the West Point Lighthouse, which is an excellent spot for sunset.
For those willing to drive 45 minutes, Snoqualmie Falls is a 268-foot waterfall east of Seattle on the Snoqualmie River between Snoqualmie and Fall City, Washington. It is one of Washington's most popular scenic attractions and is known internationally for its appearance in the cult television series Twin Peaks. Definitely worth the drive!
