Boise has a lively downtown area! Feel free to walk around and explore the streets of downtown. You can grab a bite to eat, visit the State Capital, find local shops, or hit one of the many bars. Freak Alley is a fun spot to walk through if you would like to see local artists' street art painted on the sides of buildings in the alleyway.
If the weather is warm enough, rent a tube and float the Boise River. It is best to start at Barber Park. There are rentals at the park or you can bring your own to avoid the lines. A shuttle is available to return you to your car once you get off the river.
For beer enthusiasts like myself, there are many excellent local breweries in Boise and Garden City and most are dog-friendly as well! Here are just some of the recommendations we have: Payette: A classic Boise Staple with well-rounded selections and a great location alongside the Greenbelt between Ann Morrison Park and Downtown. We also recommend Green Acres Food Truck Park nearby for food! Barbarian: Most unique flavors with 25 different beers on tap there is something for everyone. Great location in Garden City along the Green Belt near the Riverside Hotel and several local wineries with a downtown location. Lost Grove: In the North End, a classic neighborhood with a variety of shops and restaurants. For a mini-brewery tour you can walk or bike along the Greenbelt, a biking/walking pathway that follows the Boise River, between Downtown and Garden City. For bike rentals, we recommend checking out McCue's or George Cycles, or for shorter rides a lime or scooter.
One of our favorite neighborhoods in Boise, the historic North End has plenty of things to do. To start off, we recommend first checking out Camels Back Park. Camels Back is a very short but steep hill with a great view of the foothills and the area.
