Our Elopement Story

On Luke's birthday, he proposed to Bianca on the drive home from dinner. We spent the night dreaming about our ideal "wedding", deciding on a private ceremony as soon as possible. Over the next few days, we called a local justice of the peace, Nancy Stevens, met with her separately, and wrote our vows - all in secret! On the big day, May 8th, Luke brought flowers home for Bianca, we got dressed together, grabbed a bottle of wine, and headed to Nancy's. She married us in her living room, amidst tears and lots of laughter. Afterwards, we toasted with our favorite amaro in glasses we got on our first New York trip, ate homemade chicken pot pie (made by Nancy) and a big green salad (made by Bianca). For dessert, Nancy made ginger snaps and brought out fresh picked berries she'd frozen. The whole time, we all smiled a lot, reveling in our big, joyful secret. Nancy was our officiant, our photographer, our florist, our wedding guest, our caterer. We are so grateful for her enthusiasm and support! We kept our marriage private for a full day, sharing smiles over what we had just done. On Mother's Day, a few days later, we gathered our parents at Bianca's dad's house (where she was raised and where we're throwing our party!) to share the big news. After the initial shock, we ate brunch, spilling the details, and then spent a lovely afternoon together, celebrating our family's newest additions. As perfect as our private ceremony was, it felt incomplete without including our wonderful, warm communities. And so, in our own way, we decided to throw a big party where we could gather our beloveds and share our union more widely! Thank you for being a part of our sweet love story!
