1. BAARAT Bharat, family and friends parade to the wedding venue, with dancing, dhol music (drumming) and other traditional instruments 2. VARA AAGAMANA Bharat and his family arrive and are greeted by the bride's family 3. GANESH POOJA Bharat performs the Ganesh pooja. The Ganesh pooja is performed prior to all auspicious occasions, as he is revered as the remover of obstacles 4. KANYA AAGAMANAM Bhuvana arrives accompanied by her family to the venue. A screen is placed between the bride and groom 5. KANYADAANAM Bhuvana's parents give away their daughter by placing her right hand into Bharat's right hand. This signifies their blessing for the marriage 6. JEELAKARRA BELLAM Bhuvana and Bharat apply a paste of cumin and jaggery on each others heads. This inseparable mixture symbolizes that the couple will stick together through both bitter and sweet times 7. MANGALYA DHARANAM Bharat ties the Mangalasutram around Bhuvana's neck with three knots to represent the strength of their union - physical, mental and spiritual 8. TALAMBRALU The couple takes turns pouring rice on each others heads. This soon becomes a fun competition and the winner is declared as the dominant partner in the relationship 9. VARAMALA Bhuvana and Bharat adorn each other with garlands to acknowledge their formal acceptance of one another 10. SAPTAPADI The couple will take 7 steps together. Each step signifies a vow they promise to uphold together 11. VUGARALA SAMBARAM (Ring Game) A ring is placed into a pot filled with water turmeric and rose petals. Bhuvana and Bharat compete 3 times to find the ring first 12. ARUNDHATI DARSHANAM The priest leads the couple outside where Bharat points out to Bhuvana the double stars, Arundathi and Vashista an ideal couple 13. AASHIRVAADAM The priest declares Bhuvana and Bharat as husband and wife and blesses them with a happy and prosperous life! Bhuvana and Bharat then receive blessings from family and friends as the ceremony concludes
