What is it?
The Jose Cuervo Express is a vintage train that operates in Jalisco, Mexico, taking passengers on a scenic journey from Guadalajara to the town of Tequila, where they can tour the Jose Cuervo distillery, La Rojeña. Stroll among the agaves, learn the art of tequila making, and feel the heart of Mexico. During this full day experience, you’ll get to immerse yourself in the Mexican culture, sip on pretty tequila cocktails, learn all about tequila tasting as you travel across the agave fields towards the magical town of Tequila. Why is Tequila, Mexico special?
Tequila is a Pueblo Magico, or "magical town", located just an hour outside of Guadalajara, Jalisco. The name Pueblo Magico is a title designated by the Mexican Government to towns with historical importance, unique folklore, rich culture, and stunning natural beauty. The charming town of Tequila captivates with its cobblestone streets, vibrant buildings, and breathtaking views of the Tequila Volcano nestled among sprawling agave fields.
Train tour options
We will be experiencing the Atardecer tour during which we will take the charter bus to Tequila in the morning, experience all that Tequila has to offer, and at the end of the tour in the evening, embark on the Jose Cuervo Express for a special Tequila tasting experience as we head back to the city.
Schedule
SUNSET TOUR (Duration: 11 hrs.) **Make sure to arrive at least 30-45 minutes early so you can enjoy this check-in process without rushing. They are very punctual and will depart on time. ** We will depart to Tequila by bus and return on the Jose Cuervo Express Train 9:00 am | Bus departs from Casa Cuervo – EDISA to the Jose Cuervo’s agave fields 10:30 am | Arrival to the agave fields with “jima” (agave harvesting) demonstration 12:45 pm | Mundo Cuervo facilities: visit Centro Cultural Juan Beckmann Gallardo and La Rojeña distillery 2:00 pm | Free time to have lunch, and enjoy the Magical Town of Tequila 4:15 pm | Mexican Show 6:00 pm | Jose Cuervo Express departs to Guadalajara 6:30 pm | Professional tasting guided by a “Expert Taster” 8:00 pm | Arrive at Guadalajara Train Station (Ferromex)
Pick up + Drop off
We initally will depart from Casa Cuervo on charter buses. When we return in the evening, we will arrive at the Guadalajara Train Station. If you drove a rental car to Casa Cuervo in the morning, note that transportation back to Casa Cuervo is not included, so you may have to take an Uber. The Jose Cuervo Express offers a unique journey to Tequila with four tiers of service. To ensure our nieces and nephews can join us, we've chosen the "Express" tier and invite you to join us there! We are coordinating bookings for those who would like to join us in the "Express" tier. By booking with us, you'll receive a 10% discount and confirmed same-wagon placement with the bride and groom. If you'd prefer a more premium experience, we encourage you to explore the other tier options. If you choose to join us on this day activity (and we hope you do!) please RSVP as soon as possible, and no later than May 1st, 2025. Details on booking with us will be available in the RSVP.
Helpful tips
Wear SPF and carry an extra bag for snacks or souvenirs. Don't forget your cash for any additional expenses. Wear comfortable shoes because you will be doing a lot of walking! Make sure you also drink plenty of water to stay hydrated!
Cost
Express Tier Pricing (without discount): Adult: $154 USD or $3,115 MXN Child (6-17 years): $127 USD or $2,575 MXN Children 5 and under: Free (travels on an adult's lap) To reserve a seat for a child 5 and under, the child fare applies. Please note that experiences and meals beyond the standard program are not included in the general admission cost.
