We're getting married!

It was a Saturday and I had no intention of going out that night. I even texted a friend and asked her what she was doing (since her answer was always "come over we'll watch the housewives"). But to my surprise she had plans that night and invited me out to celebrate one of her friend's birthdays in Morristown. During this time I had also started talking to this guy I was really excited about. Turns out, to my surprise, he also said he was going into Morristown that night with a friend. I let him know that I was at Iron Bar and put my phone in my pocked and waited. About an hour after we got there this guy walks in with a backwards hat on, jorts, and a "you're killing me smalls" tee-shirt. Oh, and how can I forget the name tag (he and his friend crashed a high school reunion at the first bar they went to). What a look, right? After running into me on his way back from the bathroom (he'll claim I backed up into him) we realized who each other were and started talking. A few green tea shots later, and a night we will never forget, the beginning of our love story started. And we wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

As many of you may know I have worked at Diamond Gymnastics for over 12 years now. In the fall of 2020 I decided to go back and start coaching our competitive team a few days a week. Well...a few days a week for a little while turned into 3 to 4 days a week and not being allowed to leave, according to my gymnasts. Because of this, Diamond holds a very special place in my heart and all my girls are very invested in our relationship. So much so that they would talk about me getting engaged regularly. Some even went as far as to plan out what the proposal should be and friended Shawn on Instagram to try and get their ideas heard. Well, I guess Shawn also knew how much Diamond and the team girls mean to me because on a Tuesday after practice he showed up at the gym in the same outfit he wore the night we met and asked me to marry him in front of all the girls who have been so invested in us from the beginning. Their immediate screams of excitement were just the cherry on top of the most perfect proposal cake I could have asked for.
