We met at Stagecoach.
In April 2022, both Taylor and Betsy found themselves in Palm Springs for Stagecoach, a country music festival. Ironically, neither one of them was planning to attend the festival a week prior, but thanks to some good old fashioned peer pressure from each of their friends (shoutout to Emma and Miggy) they checked into Air BnBs across the street from each other the day before the show started. Their paths first crossed at the pool in the Air BnB complex as everyone arrived into town for the festival. Betsy and her friend Emma were in the pool chatting when a big splash interrupted them. When they looked over, they realized the cannonball came from a grown man who had started swimming laps near them on a pool noodle (again - shoutout Miggy for being you). Needless to say, that was the icebreaker that introduced Betsy and Taylor. Their two groups hit it off right away and ultimately spent the weekend together hanging out inside and out of the festival. After getting to know each other for several days, it became clear to Taylor and Betsy that they had a lot in common and they didn't want this weekend to be the last time they saw each other. There was just one small inconvenience: Taylor lived in San Diego and Betsy in LA (a 3+ hour drive depending on traffic). While 3 hours wasn't the longest distance in the world, it did add another hoop to jump through especially for two people who had known each other for just 4 days. After they got home, what started as texting quickly turned into phone calls, then trips to see each other on the weekends, then meeting each other’s friends, then eventually families. Eight months later, Betsy packed up her apartment in LA and moved to San Diego. In the 4 years since they met, Stagecoach has become a staple for Taylor and Betsy. Not only because that's where they met, but it’s become a gathering place for their closest friends to reconvene for a fun weekend each year regardless of how far they live from each other. In 2025, three years after they met there Taylor proposed to Betsy (where else) at Stagecoach. Little did we know that when we each made an impulsive decision to go to a music festival in 2022 that it would change our lives forever. All thanks to a little peer pressure… and one very well-timed cannonball!
