Betsy and Sal met at Washington State University Vancouver. Known only as the “cute guy with a paddle” to Betsy, the two continued to get to know each other through the recreation program. It wasn’t until a fateful kayaking trip in the San Juan Islands that Betsy and Sal really connected. Their first date was a hike on Hamilton Mountain. A few weeks later, Sal bought Betsy Cars 3 on DVD and she saw the future in his eyes.

A tradition on Cape Cod is to walk down to the beach to watch the stars. This summer, they wanted to catch the Perseid meteor shower. After watching shooting stars, starlink and planes overhead, Betsy announced she needed to go to the bathroom. Strangely, Sal had to go too. After the brief and secluded bathroom break, Sal popped the question with a galaxy ring under the stars.
