Jake and Bethany both went to SUNY Purchase College- Bethany in the dance conservatory, and Jake a baseball player/ journalism major. But they first interacted through instagram when Jake slid into Bethany's DM's with a screenshot of a "create new contact" photo and said "taking applications?". Boy was he smooth! With a message that bold, Bethany was definitely intrigued. They continued to chat through instagram and finally exchanged phone numbers. At Purchase College, there is a place on campus called the "Stood" where students go on the weekends and listen to live music and dance. Bethany and Jake met here in person officially and danced the night away! From then on, Bethany and Jake continued to chat and would see each other around campus, but it was not for another couple months or so that they had an official first date. Jake took Bethany to an Italian restaurant for dinner (if you know Bethany, the key to her heart is fettuccini alfredo) and then to a movie, and the rest is history! Fast forward, 6.5 years later- On a weekend trip to Buffalo to visit Bethany's family, Bethany thought her, Jake, Mandy and her son, Logan, were going to visit the Niagara Aquarium, then meet Bethany's parents for dinner and a movie. Mandy insisted they drive separate because she planned to meet another friend later that day. On the way there, Mandy called Bethany explaining how Logan projectile vomited all over her car so they had to turn around. (Don't worry Logan was actually totally fine!) Since Bethany and Jake were only 5 minutes from the Aquarium at this point, they decided to still go just the two of them. Jake was having a blast! He seemed so excited to see the penguins, and was taking his time asking Bethany to take photos of him with every random fish he saw. Little did Bethany know, Jake was just stalling so the photographer could find a perfect photo spot. Jake asked to take a selfie outside the aquarium since it was a perfect view of Niagara Falls. After the selfie, Bethany saw a photographer friend, Julie, (in Buffalo, everyone knows everyone), and said hi, not suspecting a thing! Julie then offered to take a photo of them and that's when Jake pulled out a ring and got down on his knee! After a mini photo shoot, we drove to dinner and Bethany's whole family, and Jake's whole family were there for a surprise engagement party! It was truly the best day ever!
