The story of Eric and Beth…. Once upon a time, Eric and Beth met on a Facebook dating app. It was in the fall of 2020 in September. They started chatting on Facebook. Eric wanted her number, but Beth was nervous and asked, “Are you sure?” Eric said he was. Then, they started chatting on the phone and video chatted regularly on Messenger. After a few weeks, they decided to meet in person. They got together in person and went to Riverside Dam to take a walk. They followed this up with a trip to Olive Garden for soup, salad, and breadsticks, which they still enjoy doing today! Beth and Eric went on a few more dates and continued to get to know each other by chatting and phone calls, as Beth lived in Thief River and Eric lived in GF. On November 8th, 2020, Beth got baptized, and Eric said he had news for her that same day. Eric asked her if she wanted to be his girlfriend that very day. Beth said yes, and they shared a dance to celebrate. They committed to being in a relationship only with each other. Then, they each met each other’s families in Williston and Viking. Beth even took the Am Trak train over the holiday to visit Eric at his dads’ place! In July of 2021, they went on an extended vacation with friends to Yellowstone. A trip to Florida was in order during December of 2021 to visit Eric’s mom. Shortly after this, Eric went home to Williston and picked out a ring that was in the family for Beth, as he had made a plan to propose. In February of 2022, Eric and a friend met. The friend asked when he planned to propose. Eric had been praying about whether he should marry Beth, and God had given the answer, “Yes.” Eric and his friend made a plan that Eric would propose at his mom’s cabin, Luke and his girlfriend and another couple went to the cabin for what was to be a couples retreat. The guys made a fancy dinner for the ladies and got flowers. It was Valentine’s weekend. The dinner was with all of them. After dinner was over, Eric popped the question. Beth did not say anything right away because she was shocked. After 30 seconds or so, she said yes! They followed up dinner with a drive to the ice palace at Detroit Lakes to celebrate. The following months have included going to church together and getting to know each other through activities like Bible study. The rest of the time has been spent preparing for their wedding and new life together. When buying wedding decorations, they picked out a sign that says, “I love you more.” This is how they live their life, loving each other more every day.
